Ezreal’s Backstory

Ezreal was born and raised in Piltover and was always a curious child. His parents were renowned archaeologists. Ezreal became used to their long absences from home and often fantasized about joining them. He loved hearing about his parent’s adventures.

While his parents were away, Ezreal was often left with his uncle, Professor Lymere. His uncle did not care to raise Ezreal so he hired the best tutors to teach Ezreal about cartography, hextech mechanics and the history of Runeterra.

Becoming bored with being taught, Ezreal found he absorbed information easily. He could pass exams with ease, giving him more time to explore the university where his uncle worked. He loved exploring the tunnels under the campus and even practiced lock picking.

Whenever Ezreal’s parents came back to Piltover, his father would share with Ezreal all they had seen and their plans for future expeditions. They wanted to search for the lost tomb of Ne’Zuk, a Shuriman tyrant said to have possessed the ability to teleport.Ezreal in Piltover

As Ezreal grew older, his parent’s would be gone for increasingly longer periods of time, until one year, they did not return. His uncle assumed they perished in the desert, but Ezreal could not accept this.

Abandoning his studies, Ezreal set out to search for his parents. He knew he had to find the tomb of Ne’Zuk, so he spent weeks gathering supplies and Intel. Leaving a note for his uncle, Ezreal snuck onto a supply ship headed to Nashramae.

Having his mother’s field notes, Ezreal imagined he was following the path his parents had taken. Finally he found the tomb, but discovered his parents had not.

Upon opening the sarcophagus, Ezreal discovered it to be empty, except for a bronze gauntlet with a crystal matrix at the center. When Ezreal took this gauntlet, the traps of the tomb were set off. He instinctively put the gauntlet on and rushed to the exit, even managing to teleport the last hundred yards.

Ezreal realized this gauntlet was the power Ne’Zuk had possessed and was a perfect tool for an explorer such as himself.

Returning to Piltover, Ezreal soon found himself on countless adventures, always using the gauntlet to help him explore. He knew if he made a name for himself, his parents would have to seek him out.

A story about Ezreal

Ezreal’s Abilities

Ezreal is a champion that is best played in the Bot Lane as ADC but this champion can also be played in the Mid Lane as a mage. This champion is easy to master but his abilities are all skill shots.

Every champion in League of Legends has a passive and 4 abilities which are used by pressing “Q”, “W”, “E”, and “R” on a keyboard during game play. “R” is considered an ultimate ability and is usually the most powerful ability. Each ability has a cool down, which means you have to wait some time before you can cast it again.

Ezreal’s abilities use mana. So you will have to watch your mana bar during the game. If your mana runs out, you will not be able to cast spells until it fills up.Ezreal Mystic Shot

Passive – Rising Spell Force. For each spell that Ezreal hits, he will have increased Attack Speed. This will stack up to 5 times.

Q – Mystic Shot. Ezreal shoots out a skill shot that is a bolt of energy which will reduce all the cool downs on his spells if it hits an enemy target.

W – Essence Flux. This skill shot is an orb that will stick to the first champion or objective it hits. If Ezreal hits an enemy with the orb with an auto attack, or any of his abilities, the orb detonates, dealing more damage.

E – Acrane Shift. Ezreal can teleport a short distance and fires off a homing bolt which will strike the nearest enemy target. The homing bolt will hit the champion with Essence Flux on it first.Ezreal - Trueshot Barrage

R – Trueshot Barrage. This is Ezreal’s ultimate ability. He shoots off a powerful barrage of energy which deals damage to each enemy it passes through.

How To Play Ezreal

Ezreal is a great champion to play as ADC in the Bot Lane. Each of his abilities are skill shots, so you will have to practice how to land skill shots. Once you do that, you will be unstoppable!

In lane, take your Q first. This is the main ability you will use. You can use it to hit the enemy from a safe distance and to last hit minions with.

Get your W next and use your Q and W together. Your W can go through minions and land on an enemy champion. This ability does not do any damage, you will have to auto attack or land another ability in order to proc the damage.

When you have your E, you will be able to dodge the enemies attack or use it as a gap closer. The homing missile also does damage to an enemy champion if they are in the area.

Having your R next allows you to hit champions from across the map. This ability is called a global ability because it can travel the length of the map.

In lane, try to last hit minions as much as you can. Use your E and Q to burst the enemy down from a safe distance. Save your E to create more distance between you and your opponent if they get too aggressive or if you need to dodge an ability that would otherwise take you down.

Tips And Tricks

Use your Q and W to stack your passive up. This will give you more attack speed during fights. The stacks do go away after time, so you will have to constantly stack.

Save your E to use defensively or to burst down an enemy.

Look for champions who are low and snipe them from a far by using your R.

You can use your W on towers. Use it when attacking a tower to do even more damage to it.

W can travel through minions and will stick on enemy champions. Your Q does not travel through minions. Even if you hit an enemy with W, you will have to auto attack them or reposition to get a clear shot on your Q to proc the damage.

A good combo is to land your W and then Q or auto attack to proc the damage. Do this until the enemy is low. Use your E to further damage the enemy and then use R to finish them off. You can also save your E to teleport to safety if you need to.

Ezreal is a poke champion. You are better off harassing the enemy from afar with your W and Q, taking them to low health before going aggressive rather than being aggressive to start with.

Land your Q as much as you can especially after you use your ult. Doing so will lower the cool downs on all of your abilities.

How To Play Ezreal In The Mid Lane

Ezreal also makes a good Mid Lane champion in some instances. The sequence of abilities is the same, but you will want to buy items that boost magic damage rather than attack damage for ADC.

You will rely a lot more on your spells rather than your auto attacks with this build. Use your W and Q to burst the enemy down and than use E and R to finish them off.

AP Ezreal is pretty good at bursting the enemy down come late game. Look to poke the enemy down with your W and Q and than finish them off with E and R.

  1. It sounds like a very interesting game. My question is what is the main goal of the game ? At first, I thought that maybe he got caught in the cave and has to find a way out, but it mentions him returning to do more exploring. The only thing I would have to go over again would be the controls since they seem to be somewhat complex as to what they do. I guess you would get the hang of it after a little while though.

    • Great question!  Ezreal’s backstory actually is not apart of the actual gameplay.  Its only to provide more information about the champion in the game.  The main goal of League of Legends is to work as a team to take down the enemies base.  You can learn more about it here!  Learn to play.
