Graves’ Backstory

Malcolm Graves was raised in the wharf alleys of Bilgewater. He quickly learned how to fight and steal in order to survive. Graves always found work on the docks, hauling contraband from smugglers.

After a while he got bored with at docks, so Graves stole a blunderbuss and stole abroad a ship headed to the Shuiman mainland. Once he got there, he lied, stole and gambled from place to place.

It was at a highly illegal high-stakes poker game in Mudtown where Graves met Twisted Fate.

Seeing the same reckless passion for danger in each other, they quickly formed a partnership. Soon they were stealing from the rich and taking on jobs whenever they could.

Even though Twisted Fate would occasionally blow all their money, Graves knew something thrilling would always be around the corner.Graves in Piltover

In the lands of Valoran they set two houses of Noxus against each other in order to rescue a kidnapped heir. They pocketed the ransom money and sold the heir to the highest bidder.

They went to Piltover and cracked the impenetrable Clockwork Vault. Graves and Twisted Fate even tricked the guards into loading the loot in order to make a quick getaway.

Graves and Twisted Fate were skilled at double-crossing the people who hired them, usually doubling their profits.

During one heist, their luck ran out. Graves was hauled to prison while Twisted Fate abandoned him.

Enduring years of torture and solitary confinement in the Locker, Graves nursed his anger towards his partner. Thoughts on revenge are what kept him alive through this time.

When he finally got out, with the wardens brand new shotgun, Graves began to search for Twisted Fate.

Graves tracked Twisted Fate to Bilgewater with new bounties on Twisted Fate’s head. Determined to cache in on these bounties, Graves almost had Twisted Fate.

Getting caught up in the ongoing conflict between the reaver king Gangplank and his rival ship captains, Graves and Twisted Fate were forced to rely on each other to get away safely.

While Graves wanted to trust Twisted Fate and pick up where they left off, he found deep feelings of resentment. Even though Graves had to leave his homeland, he hears Bilgewater calling his name.

Graves’ Abilities

This champion is best played in the Jungle. Graves is not too difficult to play at first but does require some practice.

Every champion in League of Legends has a passive and 4 abilities which are used by pressing “Q”, “W”, “E”, and “R” on a keyboard during game play. “R” is considered an ultimate ability and is usually the most powerful ability. Each ability has a cool down, which means you have to wait some time before you can cast it again.

Graves’ abilities use mana. So you will have to watch your mana bar during the game. If your mana runs out, you will not be able to cast spells until it fills up.

Passive – New Destiny. Graves is a little unique. His shotgun can shoot twice before it has to reload. Each shot fires 4 bullets which do not pass through units. Monsters and minions hit with multiple bullets will be knocked backwards.Graves - End of the Line

Q – End Of The Line. This ability is a skill shot. Graves fires out an explosive shell which will detonate after 2 seconds, or .2 seconds if it hits terrain.

W – Smoke Screen. Graves fires out a smoke grenade which creates a cloud of smoke. Enemies caught inside the cloud will lose vision, take magic damage, and will be slowed.

E – Quickdraw. This allows Graves to dash forward and earn a stack of True Grit. True Grit increases armor and magic resist. Graves gets two stacks of True Grit if he dashes towards an enemy.

R – Collateral Damage. Graves will fire an explosive shell which deals heavy damage to the first champion it hits and throws Graves backwards. When it hits a champion or reaches the maximum range, the shell explodes and deals damage in a cone.

How To Play Graves

Graves is a fun champion to play in the Jungle. He is great at dueling just about any other Jungler in the game. Use this champion if you are looking to invade and bully the enemy Jungler.

Take E first and get your Blue Buff first. This will help you get more mana and E allows you to survive the camps better. When you dash you gain armor and magic resist.

When you auto attack your camps, they will be knocked away from you.

At level two take your Q. It will do more damage to the camps.

Take your W level three and look to gank the enemy. Dash into lane and use your W to blind and slow the enemy.

When you have your ult at level 6 you can really start to pressure the lanes. Dash towards the enemy, while landing W and E. Then use your R to further burst the enemy down while you are pushed back to safety.

Tips And Tricks

Use your E to dash over walls. This is a great way to escape or surprise the enemy.

Remember that each time you dash you will gain a stack of True Grit. True Grit gives you more armor and magic resist making you tough to take down. You get two stacks of True Grit when you dash towards an enemy.

You can actually get up to 8 stacks of True Grit against non-minions, and each bullet that hits an enemy unit will reduce the cool down on your E.

If you really need to escape, you can use your R to get knocked back and then E to dash even further away.

Take advantages of the walls in the Jungle. Your Q detonates faster if it hits a wall.

Graves In The Mid Lane

You can actually play Graves in the Mid Lane as well.

Take your Q first and use it to bully the enemy and last hit minions. Take your E next in order to dash away from damaging spells. At level 3 take your W.

Try to land your W on the enemy and then throw a Q at them. It will be harder to dodge because of the blind on W.

Get your R and use it to further burst the enemy down.
