Before Ivern was turned into half tree half man, he was a fierce warrior in the days of ancient Vorrijaard. Known as Ivern the Cruel, he plotted to overthrow the reign of the “Three Sisters” in the Freljord.
In order to overthrow these powerful mages, Ivern and his men sailed into the east in search of a place where all magic flowed into the world. Ivern thought if he could attain this magic, he could break any foe.
His fleet sailed over the horizon, never to be seen again.
However, Ivern the Cruel had indeed landed on the shores of Ionia. After some searching, Ivern and his men finally found a sacred grove called Omikayalan, or The Heart Of The World. There he found strange chimeric beings, half human and half beast. These creatures attacked over and over again,
Ivern pressed the attack until they found what they were looking for: the legendary God-Willow.
Even though these creatures kept attacking to protect the tree, Ivern took up his axe and chopped the tree down. As soon as the tree hit the ground, Ivern the Cruel was no more.
The magic of the God-Willow had attached itself to Ivern, changing him into half tree, half human. He never beheld such beauty and could hear the soil, hills and trees around him.
He was washed over by remorse and Ivern cried out in forgiveness.
When Ivern finally found the will to move, he found he could sink his feet into the ground and listen to the roots, rocks, and rivers. Ivern wandered all across Ionia with the magic of Omikayalan with him.
All the creatures of the land became his friends, the world his playground.
Finding a wounded stone golem, Ivern fashioned a new heart from a river pebble and gave it to the golem. He called this golem Daisy and she became his best friend.
Sometimes Ivern encounters mortals. They call him Bramblefoot, or Green Father or the Old Woodsman. Ivern is always filled with sadness by how much the mortals take and how little they return, so he retreated from them.
Although Ivern does not like the mortals, the God-Willow inside him compels Ivern to cultivate humanity. He needs to help mortals watch, listen and grow. Remembering what it was like being mortal himself, Ivern knows this will be a challenge.
Every champion in League of Legends has a passive and 4 abilities which are used by pressing “Q”, “W”, “E”, and “R” on a keyboard during game play. “R” is considered an ultimate ability and is usually the most powerful ability. Each ability has a cool down, which means you have to wait some time before you can cast it again.
Ivern’s abilities use mana. So you will have to watch your mana bar during the game. If your mana runs out, you will not be able to cast spells until it fills up.
Passive – Friend Of The Forest. Ivern is unable to attack or be attacked by jungle camps. He creates a magical grove on a jungle camp by clicking on a camp which grows over time and takes away some of his health. You can take down the camp with smite or when it fully grows.
When the grove is fully grown, Ivern can free the monsters by clicking on them again and receive gold and experience in return. When Ivern hits level 5, he can share jungle buffs with his allies.
Q – Rootcaller. This ability allows Ivern to conjure a vine which will deal damage and root the enemy target that it hits. Ivern and his allies will then be able to dash to the rooted target.
W – Brushmaker. When Ivern is in the brush, his attacks deal bonus magic damage. Activate this ability to create a patch of brush on the map around Ivern.
E – Triggerseed. Ivern can place a shied on himself or an ally which will explode after a short duration. The explosion will damage and slow enemies caught in the blast.
R – Daisy! Ivern will summon the rock golem Daisy. When Daisy attacks the same champion three times in a row, the enemy will be knocked up in the air.
How To Play Ivern
Ivern is a unique champion that was made for the Jungle. It’s passive is very different and only works on Jungle camps.
When playing in the Jungle, start at your Blue Buff with Q and click on the golem in order to create a magical grove. It takes a while to get ready, so go to the Gromp and the Wolves and click on them as well.
Then move to your Red Buff and use your passive on it. Smite it to get the Buff and level 2. Take your E next and use your passive on the Wraiths.
Go back to your Blue Buff and click on it. You will get the buff and healing back. Do the same with the Gromp and the Wolves. You should be level 3 by now, take W and look to gank a lane.
During a gank, look to put a brush down (W) to hide in. When you are in a brush Ivern get bonus magic damage. Try to land your Q and shield either yourself or an ally. If you land a Q, the target will be rooted and you and your allies can dash to the enemy.
At level 6, use Daisy in fights. You can control her by pushing R. Wherever your mouse cursor is, is where Daisy will go. She will also automatically target enemy units and will follow you wherever you go.
Look for her third attack on a single target to knock the enemy up. Use this to your advantage by throwing a Q on them to stun them and then dash to the enemy when they get knocked up.
Tips And Tricks
You can use E to slow the enemy down in order to land your Q easier. Skill shots can be easily dodged, so do whatever you can to make it easier to land them.
Ivern’s Q is very strong. Land it in order to root the enemy and then dash to them. Your allies around can also dash to the target.
You can use your E on Daisy while she is fighting for you. This is a great way to deal damage to an enemy from a safe distance.
Daisy can be out for up to 60 seconds but has a 67-second cool down. The timer starts even if she is summoned. Keep her alive the full 60 seconds and she can be summoned again in just 7 seconds. Buying items with cool down reduction means you can almost always have her out.
This champion is great at counter jungling. Save your smite for the enemy’s jungle camps. Use you passive on a camp and then use smite to take the whole camp quickly.
After level 5, you can share a buff with your allies. It will stay in either Red Buff or Blue Buff’s camp until an ally takes it.
How To Play Ivern As Support
Ivern can actually make a great Support. Take your E first to keep yourself and your ally shielded. Try to land the damage on your E when it goes off.
Take your Q next and use it root the enemy and then dash to it if the moment is right.
Get your W at level 3 and put a brush down to stand in. Your attacks from this new vantage point will give you bonus magic damage.
At level 5, look to invade the jungle with your jungler in order to take buffs away from the enemy. You can get a buff and your jungler can get the extra buff.
Use Daisy in team fights to add another body to the fight.
