Lucian’s Backstory

Lucian has always wanted to be like his father, Urias. Urias was a member of the Sentinels of Light which caused him to travel a lot, protecting people from the wraiths of the Black Mist. Lucian would wait for him in their home in Demacia.

Each time Urias visited home, he would tell Lucian about his travels and adventures. Lucian hung to every word, picturing saving Runeterra alongside his father. Urias did not want Lucian to follow in his footsteps though.

Hoping to become Urias’ apprentice, Lucian has waited for a day that has yet to come.

Staying in Demacia, Lucian found himself at odds with his kingdom’s culture. When it came to mages, Demacia would exile them, but Lucian viewed them as people who needed help. He would even help these banished mages travel safely.

Returning home from one journey, a stranger was waiting for Lucian. This was Senna, Urias’ apprentice. Senna had bad news for Lucian, his father had fallen in battle against the wraiths of the Black Mist. Senna had been by his side.

Reeling with shock, Lucian grieved for his father but was also hurt he never became his father’s apprentice. Seeing Senna leave, Lucian stopped her and told her he would join her. Lucian needed to honor his father at the vigil.

Senna agreed, but reluctantly. On their way to the vigil, the two traded stories about Urias and their time with him. Lucian found comfort in Senna’s words and wisdom, and Senna’s pain was eased listening to Lucian.

Arriving at Urias’ birthplace, they held a vigil for their fallen Sentinel.Lucian and Senna

After the vigil, Lucian and Senna prepared to leave. As they prepared, dark clouds rolled over them and wraiths started to appear, attacking them. Lucian was horrified, but Senna drew her weapon, ready to defend themselves.

Even as a child, the wraiths stalked Senna. This was her curse. Taking up Urias’ light pistol, she prepared to fight. Dueling with one of the wraiths, it clawed Urias’ pistol from Senna’s grip.

Picking up the pistol, Lucian was able to fire a bolt of light from the weapon, harnessing his sorrow for his father. Senna was able to banish the rest of the wraiths while Lucian distracted them.

Showing Senna his potential to join the order, Lucian was entrusted with his father’s weapon. Never before had an uninitiated person been able to fire a Sentinel of Light’s weapon. Lucian was a natural.

Teaching Lucian all she knew, Senna realized they were a perfect match. Fighting side by side, their reliance on each other grew to a love for each other.

Lucian realized Senna was cursed and wanted desperately to rid her from the wraiths.

Searching a forgotten vault for a cure, Senna and Lucian were attacked by a monstrous wraith named Thresh. This Chain Warden was dangerous and Lucian underestimated him. Ignoring Senna’s pleas to regroup, Lucian charged.

Realizing his mistake, Senna pushed him aside, taking the killing blow that was meant for Lucian. Senna lay dead, her soul claimed by Thresh’s lantern.

This sacrifice was almost Lucian’s undoing. He stalked Runeterra for years, filled with anger and bitterness. With his father’s and Senna’s pistols, Lucian hunted Thresh with the hopes to destroy the lantern holding Senna’s soul.

Finally tracking Thresh down, Lucian fell on him with a vengeance and managed to shatter the lantern. Instead of finding peace, he found Senna, for even death could not sever their love. Even though Senna is in an altered form, Lucian must confront his own.

Now that Senna has returned with a new mission, Lucian is becoming obsessed with finishing his task of taking Thresh down.

A Story About Lucian

Lucian’s Abilities

This champion is best played in the Bot Lane as ADC. Lucian is not too hard to play at first but does require some practice to get good with him.

Every champion in League of Legends has a passive and 4 abilities which are used by pressing “Q”, “W”, “E”, and “R” on a keyboard during game play. “R” is considered an ultimate ability and is usually the most powerful ability. Each ability has a cool down, which means you have to wait some time before you can cast it again.

Lucian’s abilities use mana. So you will have to watch your mana bar during the game. If your mana runs out, you will not be able to cast spells until it fills up.

Passive – Lightslinger. Each time Lucian uses an ability, his next basic attack becomes a double attack.Lucian - Piercing Light

Q – Piercing Light. Lucian will shoot out a bolt of light which can damage several enemies.

W – Ardent Blaze. This ability allows Lucian to fire a missile at a target. It will explode in a star shape and mark any enemies around the tips of the star. If Lucian attacks the enemies that are marked, he will gain Movement Speed.

E – Relentless Pursuit. Lucian will dash a short distance. If Lucian attacks a target with his passive after using his dash, the cool down will be reduced.

R – The Culling. This is Lucian’s ultimate ability. He unleashes a torrent of shots from his pistols and can move while he fires them.

How To Play Lucian

Lucian is a strong ADC who can deal a lot of damage over a short period of time. Always look to land your double auto attacks after using an ability and your opponents will fear you!

Take your Q at level one. Use it to last hit minions and harass your opponents. You can last hit and damage enemies at the same time if you line up the shot.

At level 2, take your E. You will be able to dash around. Use it to get in a better position to land your Q or to get in a safer position. Always look to land your passive after you use an ability.

Level, 3, take your W. Use it to mark your opponents and then use E to get closer to them to land your passive damage.

When you hit level 6, take your R. Now you can use your full combo. Use your E to get in range of the enemy, use your passive if you are in range. Then use your W and Q with your passive. Finish them off with your R.

Tips And Tricks

Try to use your R in places where the enemy cannot easily get out of. This will make it easier to land all the damage.

Use your W before your use R. If you hit an enemy marked with your W, you will gain movement speed. This will allow you to stay with your enemy to keep the damage from your R on them.

You can use your W to check for enemies in bushes as it will grant vision on enemies hit.

When you use your R, you can use your E or Summoner Spells to get in a better position while you are attacking.

Always look to auto attack after using an ability. Your passive makes it so you can double auto attack after each ability is used.

Your E can help you dash through walls. Use it if you need to make a quick escape.

  1. I really like the Lucian T-shirt that you brought from red-bubble.

From what I have been reading, Lucian is easy to play, but his skill ceiling is pretty high. In my own humble opinion, Vayne, Kalista, Draven are harder to play. I will give him a try for a couple of weeks. I will come back here and update you with my experience.

    • Vayne, Kalista and Draven are definitely harder to play, with Draven probably the most the difficult one to master.  Lucian is a great ADC to play and easier by comparison!  I would say he is mid range to learn.  An even easier ADC champion to learn would be Ashe!

      Thanks for the comment!
