Shurima had dominated the known world over two millennia and ruled over countless people without challenge or threat. That all changed when Icathia fell.
When The Void tore through the material realm, the armies of Shurima faced an enemy that only got stronger the more they fought it. This corruption spread rapidly from Icathia’s ruins until it reached the jungles of Ixtal.
An elemental mage of the Ascended Host by the name of Ne’Zuk, pledged to create a weapon powerful enough to destroy The Void.
Months of inhuman labor later, Ne’Zuk revealed his weapon, the Monolith. This Monolith was a floating fortress of living stone, as big as a city. With the Monolith in tow, Ne’Zuk and a band of Ascended Hosts, set out across the sands to The Void’s point of origin.
An intense battle ensued for weeks, one which had Runeterra had never seen the likes of. Massive amounts of sorcery was rained down on The Void.
The Void fell upon this Monolith with ferocity, gouging deep wounds into its surface. The surface became pocked and seared with unnatural “malphite”, leaving mineral-like scars. Pushing the Monolith far past its limits, The Void pushed on.
Rallying his Ascended brethren for one last push, Ne’zuk rallied them. Reaching a breaking point, the Monolith crashed into the earth, cleaving through the bedrock of Icathia, opening The Void even larger.
Amongst the ruins and destruction that followed, Ne’Zuk was the sole survivor and fled for his life.
Trying to put itself back together, the Monolith tried to come back to life. The Void, however gnawed every piece to dust, except for one single shard buried deep in the earth.
Knowing it must destroy The Void once and for all, Ne’Zuk’s creation must continue to protect the known world from the dangers of The Void.
Every champion in League of Legends has a passive and 4 abilities which are used by pressing “Q”, “W”, “E”, and “R” on a keyboard during game play. “R” is considered an ultimate ability and is usually the most powerful ability. Each ability has a cool down, which means you have to wait some time before you can cast it again.
Malphite’s abilities use mana. So you will have to watch your mana bar during the game. If your mana runs out, you will not be able to cast spells until it fills up.
Passive – Granite Shield. Malphite gains a shield which will protect him from damage up to 10% of his maximum health. The shield will be broken if Malphite takes damage. If Malphite has not been hit by damage for a few seconds after his shield is down, he will gain the shield back.
Q – Seismic Shard. This ability allows Malphite to send a shard of the earth to an enemy champion. It will deal damage and slow the enemy that it hits.
W – Thunderclap. Use the ability to empower Malphite’s auto attacks. For the next few seconds, his attacks will deal damage out in front of him.
E – Ground Slam. Malphite will slam the ground dealing damage based on the amount of armor he has. Enemies hit will have their attack speed reduced.
R – Unstoppable Force. This is Malphite’s ultimate ability. He will launch himself to a location, dealing damage and knocking up all enemies caught where Malphite lands.
How To Play Malphite
Malphite is very strong in team fights. His ultimate ability is great at starting a team fight, or finishing a team fight. Land your ultimate ability and your opponents will suffer.
In lane, start with your Q. Use it on your opponent to deal damage and slow them. If you can use it when they try to move forward to attack you, they will be slowed and you can move out of reach easily.
Take your E next and use it when your opponent is close or when last hitting minions.
At level 3, take your W and use it when fighting your opponent. Land a Q, get closer to use E and then use W while you auto attack the enemy.
Look to start a team fight when you are level 6. Watch for the enemy to be grouped together and use your R to get in the middle of the fight. Make sure your team is with you to follow up with damage.
Make sure you build items that boost armor, magic resist and health. Because you want to get in the middle of the fight, you need to be able to survive a lot of damage.
Tips And Tricks
Remember to use your W when auto attacking the enemy. You will deal more damage and enemies around you will also take damage.
You can also use your R to get out of trouble if you need to make a quick getaway. You can even use it through a wall.
Buy items that boost armor. Your W and E deal damage based on how much armor you have.
Use your Q to slow down an enemy that is trying to run away.
Take advantage of your shield and only fight when you have one. Play aggressive when it is up and safe when it is down. Use your Q and E to deal damage to the enemy. Finish them off with a well-placed R.
If you use your R, make sure you use your other abilities on an enemy carry to take them down.
How To Play Malphite As Support
When playing Malphite as Support, take your Q first and use it to harass your opponents. Take your E next and your W at level 3. Use your Q and E to deal damage to your opponents.
Try to play more aggressive when your shield is up.
At level 6, look to use your R on your opponent to take them out. Save it for when your jungler comes for a gank. Set up to land your R and turn the fight in your favor before the fight even starts. Just make sure your allies are in range to help you take the enemy down!
