Morgana’s Backstory

Morgana and her twin sister, Kayle, were born on the mountain pass of Targon. Her parents, Mihira and Kilam felt the need to take the perilous path to the peak in order to find a way to protect their tribe from the Rune Wars.

At the top, Mihira was blessed with the celestial power of the Aspect of Justice. Mihira took this responsibility seriously and would often leave her daughters in the care of her husband, Kilam to rush into battle.

This caused Kilam to worry as he saw his beloved wife slipping more and more away. Finally fearing for the safety of his daughters, the next time Mihira left, Kilam took his daughters and fled.

Finding a safe place from magic and persecution, Kilam and his daughters settled in a village that would later become Demacia. Here the twins grew up different as day and night.

Kayle studied the settlement’s growing set of laws, while Morgana felt troubled by the distrust the inhabitants felt towards new arrivals. Morgana knew what it felt to be a refugee and would often visit those who had been cast out.

Feeling bitterness towards her mother for causing pain, Morgana would feel her father’s heartbreak. Fearing that she and Kayle might possess some of the Aspect’s power, this fear was confirmed when a sword fell from the heavens.Kayle and Morgana

This blade was wreathed in shadow and starfire, splitting in two between the girls. Morgana and Kayle both sprouted feathered wings as they each took half. Their father turned away in grief at the sight.

Embracing this calling, Kayle quickly put together an order of judicators to enforce the law. Morgana resented her gifts, until their settlement was raided. Rushing to protect their father, they saved countless lives and became known as the Winged Protectors or Demacia.

Growing more extreme in her ideologies, Kayle passed judgment without mercy. Morgana wanted to help those who were willing to change, but Kayle would have none of it.

Finally, Kayle sent her most trusted disciple, Ronas, to arrest Morgana. Protecting those around her, Morgana accidentally killed Ronas. Kayle swore to bring Ronas’ killer to justice and met Morgana in the skies.

These two sisters fought with a vengeance, arcs of energy exploding to the buildings below them. Morgana was on the verge of winning when she heard her father’s cry. Kilam was laying in the rubble, near death.

Stricken with grief, Morgana threw her half of their mother’s sword at Kayle, rushing to her father’s side. There was no saving him and a stunned Kayle turned her back on Demacia and left.

Escaping Demacia, Morgana also left. She tried to cut off her wings to no avail. Over time, the tale of these two sisters fell into myth and their names were even forgotten.

Morgana will never abandon those who need help and seeks out Kayle, for she knows her judgment day is coming.
