Sitting alone in the heart of the jungle in rags, Nidalee’s cries echoed through the trees. These cries attracted the attention of a mother cougar with her cubs. This cougar accepted Nidalee and took her to their den.
Growing up with these beasts, Nidalee grew up not knowing her own kind. Over the years, Nidalee became a capable huntress, always taking advantage of her environment. She learned how to make healing salves from honeyfruit.
After some time, Nidalee began to lose control of her body, her hands and feet flickering between human and beast. Sometimes she would crawl out of the den, sick with fever, following strange figures.
Vastayan hunters known as the Kiilash, would enter the forests each year in search of trophies. Eventually these hunters found Nidalee’s adopted mother, wounding her.
Before the Kiilash could finish her off, Nidalee leaped from the brushes, howling with grief and rage. Feeling the spirit of the jungle cats within her, Nidalee was transformed into a cougar and brought down the first hunter she came to.
Changing back to human form, Nidalee picked up a spear and pointed it at the remaining hunters. The Kiilash hissed at this sight and to Nidalee’s surprise she could understand some of their speech.
As the Kiilash retreated, they cursed Nidalee in the name of their Vastayashai’rei ancestors.
Holding her dying mother close, Nidalee wept. Her siblings approached warily, accepting Nidalee as their new leader. Nidalee vowed to defend her home against all who sought to disturb it.
Learning how to control her powers, Nidalee found she could easily change between cougar and human form whenever she needed to. Yearning to learn about her own kind, Nidalee met Neeko and the two became inseparable for a time.
Eventually Neeko departed, but Nidalee stayed in the jungles, always thinking about her own origins.
Every champion in League of Legends has a passive and 4 abilities which are used by pressing “Q”, “W”, “E”, and “R” on a keyboard during game play. “R” is considered an ultimate ability and is usually the most powerful ability. Each ability has a cool down, which means you have to wait some time before you can cast it again.
Nidalee’s human form ability’s use mana, but cougar form does not. So you will have to watch your mana bar during the game while in human form. If your mana runs out, you will not be able to cast spells until it fills up.
Passive – Prowl. Each time Nidalee moves in the brush, her movement speed is increased. Her movement speed will increase even more if is moving towards a visible enemy champion.
When Nidalee hits enemy champions or monsters with her human form Javelin Toss (Q) or Bushwhack (W), a hunt is triggered. True Sight will trigger for a few seconds and Nidalee will gain bonus movement speed the enemy will take increased damage from her cougar form Takedown (Q) and Pounce (W).
Q – Javelin Toss / Takedown
- Javelin Toss – In human form, Nidalee will be able to throw a javelin at her target which gains increased damage the further it flies.
- Takedown – In cougar form, Nidalee’s next attack will fatally wound her target. This ability will deal more damage the less health points they have.

How To Play Nidalee
Nidalee is a great champion to play in the Jungle. She is great at throwing out spears while in human form and then getting on the enemy quickly with her cougar form.
When playing Nidalee in the Jungle, start with your Q. You will have access to your R starting out because that is how you switch forms. Use your Q in human form to land a spear and then switch to cougar form to do more damage with your Q.
Take your W at level 2 and use your Q and W in cougar form to quickly take down the jungle camps. You can also use W to get around the map quicker.
Use your E at level 3 to lay down traps. While in cougar form, use your Q, W and E to take down the camps.
Look to gank your lanes. Land your spear on a target and then switch to cougar form and use your W to get closer to the enemy. Then use your Q and E to do more damage. Switch back to human form and use your E to heal. Then throw a spear if you need to finish the enemy off.
During team fights, try to stay someplace safe and hidden in order to throw out spears. Then when you have an enemy low enough, switch to cougar form and use your W, Q and E to take them down.
